IBEW Local 531 & NECA Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program

We are seeking motivated individuals interested in building a career in the Electrical Construction industry. The Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee, sponsored by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 531 and the National Electrical Contractors’ Association (NECA), manages this apprenticeship program. It is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. The program combines on-the-job training with union electrical contractors and related classroom instruction.

As an apprentice, you will learn the skills required to become an electrician under the direct supervision of Journeyman Wiremen. Electricians are responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, and testing electrical equipment and wiring systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Your on-the-job training may include tasks such as mounting electrical boxes, installing lighting fixtures and equipment, bending and installing conduit, wiring switches and outlets, and working on systems like voice and data, fiber optics, traffic controllers, fire alarms, security, motor controls, PLC controls, and temperature control systems.
