National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA)

NECA at a glance

NECA represents the $171 billion dollar electrical construction industry in the United States. The association helps bring safe power, lighting, and communications to buildings and communities nationwide.

History of NECA

NECA began in 1901 when electrical contractors met at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. They organized to improve safety, quality, and fair business practices. That mission continues today, with a focus on protecting the public and supporting innovation.

What NECA provides contractors

Contractors rely on NECA for resources that improve business decisions, customer service, safety, and technology adoption. Locally, the Northern Indiana Chapter was chartered on November 30, 1944 and has supported its members for more than 75 years.

Northern Indiana Chapter today

As one of 119 local chapters, we advance the industry through advocacy, education, research, and standards development. Our chapter works closely with three local IBEW unions and serves 11 counties in northwest and north central Indiana, plus two counties in southwest Michigan.
